ORIGIN Coffee production in Brazil is responsible for more than one third of all coffee cultivated worldwide. Although overall production yields year-to-year, the country produces a staggering amount; approximately 60 million sacks (60kgs) of green coffee annually. Coffee is mainly produced in the south-eastern states of Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and Paraná. Here, the terroir and climate provide ideal growing conditions for a number of varieties and more than five million people are directly employed in the cultivation, harvesting or processing of coffee. PRODUCER Coffee growing in Carmo de Minas has been in the Pereira family since 1979. They started by planting new varieties while developing new harvesting and processing techniques to improve quality on the farm.
