Few coffee-growing regions in the world match the altitude and intensity of Nariño, Colombia. Nestled in the Andes on the volcanic slopes near the Galeras volcano, smallholder farms here cultivate at around 2,200 meters above sea level. The varietal is Gesha, washed to let the terroir speak cleanly, delivering grape, pear, tamarind, honey, and orange.
