Carmela Urduvi

Active origin: Bolivia
Carmela Urduvi (known as Carmelita) is a Bolivian smallholder farmer who has grown coffee for over 40 years at her three-hectare Finca Carmelita in Copacabana, Caranavi province, at 1,400–1,550 masl. Originally from Omasuyos near Lake Titicaca, she settled in Caranavi through government land reform and raised eight children while running the farm. A participant in the Sol de la Mañana sustainability program, she was recognized with the SCA Sustainability Award in 2019, and produces Caturra, Catuaí, and Java using washed and natural carbonic methods.
