Coffee producer

Kata Muduga Farmers' Union

Active origin: Ethiopia
Kata Muduga Farmers' Union is an Ethiopian cooperative union established in 2016 in the Jimma Zone of Oromia, initially formed of 16 primary cooperatives and growing to 48 primaries representing over 40,000 smallholder farmers. The union coordinates operations for member cooperatives including Nano Challa, which farms at approximately 2,048 masl in the Geera area and produces washed heirloom lots prized for bright citrus acidity and floral character. Kata Muduga was formed with support from USAID's Technoserve program to improve quality and farmer incomes in a region historically associated with lower-grade Jimma commercial coffee.
