Oscar Fernando Hernández is a third-generation Colombian coffee farmer at Finca Los Nogales, in El Diamante near Bruselas, Huila. His grandfather Ricardo purchased the farm in 1953 and his father Ricaurte became Colombia's first-ever Cup of Excellence winner in 2005. Oscar returned to lead the farm after his father's death and transformed Los Nogales into a research and innovation center, growing diverse varieties including Geisha, Pink and Yellow Bourbon, Tabi, Bourbon Pimienta, and Typica, and pioneering biotechnology-driven processing improvements.
