About

Prototype Coffee is a specialty microroastery in Vancouver, British Columbia, founded in 2017 by Matt Johnson. Roasting on small-batch Aillio Bullet R1 machines located behind the counter in their Strathcona roastery and tasting room, Prototype focuses on highly traceable, high-scoring coffees sourced by importers paying above-market prices. All coffees are roasted omni-style in the light-to-medium range to maximize sweetness and balance. Johnson previously managed and worked as a barista at Revolver Coffee in Vancouver.
