About

Shokunin Coffee Collective is a specialty micro-roastery founded in Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2018 by Jelle van Rossum at age 24. The name shokunin is a Japanese term for a craftsperson devoted to mastering their work. The roastery takes a consumer-oriented approach, adjusting roast profiles to match the brew ratio and TDS preferences of individual baristas rather than applying a single house style. Sourcing focuses on distinctive lots that highlight specific processing methods, regions, or varieties, drawing inspiration from Nordic roasters such as Tim Wendelboe. Shokunin supplies specialty cafes in Rotterdam, Den Haag, and internationally.
